Meet Your Chief Flying Instructor
Jim Hughes is the School Chief Flying Instructor (CFI). He has been training gyrocopter pilots since 2014.
Over the course of his career, Jim has trained dozens of pilots — from complete beginners through to airline and rotary-wing pilots — helping them develop the skills and judgement required for safe gyroplane flying.
Jim is known for his calm, structured teaching approach and for guiding students to progress confidently at their own pace.
He is a CAA-qualified gyroplane instructor operating under UK Civil Aviation Authority training standards (CAP 44), delivering structured flight training from Rufforth Airfield near York.
